Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for FastenersCo-Produced by Industrial Fasteners Institute and Fastener Training InstituteDATESTuesday and Wednesday, May 27-28, 2026TIME9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. ETLOCATIONIFI Headquarters6363 Oak Tree Blvd.Independence, OH 44131INSTRUCTORLaurence Claus, IFI Director of Education and TrainingCOURSE OVERVIEWOne of the most misunderstood themes between fastener manufacturers and customers is the application of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GDT) on prints. Often, because customers do not understand the fastener manufacturing process, GDT is applied in a manner that is burdensome to suppliers. Likewise, because manufacturers often fail to appreciate customer needs for a particular feature to function in a certain way, GDT is viewed as burdensome and problematic. This two-day, interactive seminar educates and familiarizes students with a basic understanding of GDT, specifically related to its use on threaded fasteners. We explore how specific geometric characteristics are used to describe fit, form and function on threaded fasteners.CURRICULUM INCLUDESThe session includes approximately ten segments, helping students become familiar with and build skill levels in basic GDT concepts. Each segment has associated group exercises. Some segments include:•Identifying datums•Understanding the meaning of GDT symbols•Reading the feature control frame•Bonus tolerance•Measuring GDT requirementsWHO SHOULD ATTENDThis class is beneficial to many in the fastener industry, including:•Manufacturing and process engineers•Quality engineers and technicians•Manufacturing leads•Quoting and estimation associates•Technical sales•Anyone who would like to learn more about fastenersPRICINGThis is a two-day class. Early bird pricing is available for $1150 for both days. The price increases to $1350 on May 13, 2026. The class is FREE for IFI Members. Continental breakfast and lunch are provided each day. The Fastener Training Institute reserves the right to change instructors or cancel seminars and cannot be held responsible for costs incurred other than the registration fee.REGISTRATIONRegister directly with Industrial Fasteners Institute
