COURSE OVERVIEW
This class provides a critical foundation about how bolts work and bolting
considerations, such as torque recommendations, technical information, and optimum tightening torque values for specific applications.
CURRICULUM INCLUDES
•
Calculating general torque values
•
Accessing an automated resource for determining complete technical information on bolted joints
•
Determine the optimum tightening torque values for specific applications
•
Learn why tension in bolts and screws is more critical than the applied torque in making a joint secure
•
Understand how a Skidmore Tester provides different information than a torque wrench
•
Discover how Grade 8 bolts stretch when tightened, acting like springs which keep assemblies together

It’s importance to be able to ask customers, purchasing agents and vendors the right questions. “We are a more sophisticated operation when we can
speak to those standards and move intelligently in that space. CFS training helped get us into that process mindset,”
- Caleb Zehnder, CEO/Founder, ZMG Fasteners Plus
